Resolve to Watch the Stars

January 09, 2017

Calling all amateur astronomers and novice stargazers! January is a terrific time to join the monthly starwatch program sponsored by the Kauai Educational Association for Science & Astronomy (K.E.A.S.A.). The island is ideally situated for watching the stars, and it’s a great way to spend a romantic evening for two, or combine family-fun time with an educational experience. The first star-watch of 2017 is scheduled for January 28th, and begins at sunset at the softball field. Signs are posted for parking. Remember to turn off headlights when approaching, and park with your lights facing away from the ball field. You’ll need insect repellent and may want to bring some warm clothing for chilly evenings. Lawn chairs and blankets make great seating, and a small flashlight with a red lens cover (or make your own from red cellophane) comes in handy. For details and the full schedule, visit www.KEASA.org, or call 808-346-5796, or 808-332-STAR (7827).
